Okay, so I was going to share this under the ‘what are you doing with your two-year-olds for math’ thread, but I actually think it is SO incredibly fantastic to teach math in the world and generate math excitement in individuals from age 2 and up. I absolutely believe EVERYONE should see this, and SO many EL kids will love this.
Currently, Alex begs for this multiple times a day ( not that she actually gets to!)
Some of you may remember having watched this as children, it actually first came out in 1959 and won loads of awards. It is a Disney production called Donald in Mathmagic land:

I kid you not, it teaches things like how octaves are created by cutting strings in half, then fractions, about Pythagoras, the Golden Rectangle (and shows how it is used in architecture such as Notre Dame and the Parthenon, how it is used in art such as the Mona Lisa, etc…)… It shoes the Golden Ratio and how it is found in nature, how triangles are used to play billiards, complete with a formula! And So much more. It is a out 27 min long, and you can actually watch it on YouTube if you want to check it out…
Bit this video is DESIGNED with OUR EL kids in mind, I am positive lol PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take a look, or get it for your home.

Oh yes! Thank you for sharing Keri! We have this! Just haven’t shown it to Cammie yet.
Ooh! I think i might watch it with them! The second we get home!
oh - missed it, the link to youtube now says " the user has suppressed this video" What was the title? Has another user uploaded it again?
Thanks for helping out!
I had this up on one of my computers for about a week - and then had to reboot… didn’t think to download it off the cache, so please let us know (subscribing to thread) if this gets put up somewhere else so I can save myself a copy ![ ](/images/emoji/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=12)
Here it is again if you missed it! You can purchase it if you really enjoy it from Amazon, but I did have to wait awhile to get it ![ ](/images/emoji/twitter/wink.png?v=12)
It really is phenomenal! We have been teaching our toddler about things like the Golden Ratio in nature and the Golden Rectangle in architecture…in fact, for Labor day she chose from a list of random activities, including a swim park and a new zoo, to go to a children’s museum because they are hosting a living math exhibit! I LOVE EL!

Thank you very much, Kerileanne and also for your PM!
I put the Donald video on this morning and my husband remarked smuggishly “ah - so YOU can show them uneducational stuff at times, but if I do it, you are after me!” and he didn´t quite believe me when I answered “no, this is a Donald Duck video that reenforces math concepts” ;-))
Like so many partners (female or male) on the forum, I have a partner who doesn´t help with EL…how much more could be achieved in a couple that is both in favour of EL!
