1st birthday theme

What was your babies first birthday theme? Did you have lot of people or just a small party? Did you make any of the stuff or bought everything ?

My son had a Prince theme. I made a castle cake. Got a lot of ideas from http://cakecentral.com/
and for the party I relayed a lot on http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/
For goodie bags, all the boys got a inflatable swords and the girls got wands.
We hired a lady for doing a puppet show but she was horrible, 15 mins into the show, there were no kids listening to her. We had to give a break. She tried it again but no luck. I was very mad. Other than the show everything went well. We ordered food from outside.

We had our son’s first birthday at an indoor bounce house and it was animal themed. He had a jungle shirt from Gymboree and an animal cake. It was just absolutely too cute

We are pretty boring I guess. Just cake & dinner with the extended family for the first birthday. We have gotten more elaborate with age though. At older dd’s bday we are planning fair with animal balloons, a fish pond, & various games & activities to rotate through & win prizes at.

my sister made this really cool catepillar cake out of lots of different coloured cupcakes. it was really simple to do and very cute and effective. you just line the cupcakes up in a wavey pattern add some legs of some sort (like licorice) and use other lollies for the face. One it was finished, the family really enjoyed it. I don’t think it is boring to just have the family around. It is really nice to have the ones you love close and well enough to share the special times with you.

I forgot to mention- we did have a neat cake for k’s birthday. We put 4 square cakes together to form aig square & decorated it like a child’s block.

our theme is pooh bear. we make pooh cake and decorated with balloons. its nice to have friends and family around. E enjoyed alot

We had a big party on my son’s first birthday. We had almost 200 guests including the kids!
We celebrated it in one of the restaurants here.
From the packages they have, I chose the car theme.
Since it was a car theme, I got an idea that my son’s entrance to the party was riding on his little car.
His cake was like a rocky road with cars and a racing flag on top.
My son’s pictures (tarpaulin) from 1 month old to 11 months were posted in one of the walls of the hall.
At the entrance, the guests will see my son’s big picture with a welcome note.
I also had another big picture of him in a stand beside the attendance table wherein most of the guests sign-in their names (to keep track of how many attended the party) and to get their name tags and party hats.
Each table has a balloon and racing flag centerpiece.
My son’s names were hanged alternately with the balloons on the ceiling.
I chose red, orange and yellow for the color theme.
Kids’ tables had marshmallows, chocolate candies, crayons, coloring books and stickers to keep them busy while waiting for the other guests to come.
(I chose nuts for the adults.)
The whole area was decorated and arranged according to my plan
with the help of the restaurant’s staff.
We had so many balloons, surprises, games and prices for the kids.
A chicken mascot appeared in the middle of the program. It danced and entertained the kids.
A clown hosted the party and he was great!

Most of the guests said that it’s the best party they have ever attended!

I did Teddy’s First Birthday. Here is what the supplies look like http://www.birthdaydirect.com/1st-birthday-party-supplies-teddys-1st-birthday-c-33_2162.html?osCsid=i0pic6d5fl3icpsqa2qange5t0

His birthday fell on a Thursday, so we had cupcakes at home and the party on the weekend.

It was really cute. I invited over a lot of people, but I think only about 15 showed up, not including his father and me. I had tons of food, and we had a good time. Gabriel loved eating his cake and all playing with his balloons. Definitely have lots of balloons. That was one of his favorite things. And remember to keep the whole party at 2 or 3 hours max and after nap time. One year olds can get overwhelmed with all the people and activities, so it’s best to keep it short.

I also made pictures (about 2 or 3 for every month) from his birth all the way to 12 months old. I put them on construction paper and hung them on the wall. My uncle decorates cakes, so he made a matching teddy bear cake for the adults and a little cake for Gabriel.

that last pic is just too cute!!!

for baby’s first bday we didnt do anything with people because we figured he wouldnt really understand so we just took him for ice cream which he loves and gave him a gift.

for his second bday i would like to have it at a party farm we have close by.
they host parties and they have a petting zoo to entertain kids.

i think he will enjoy that

I have been looking for something to serve small children at my dd 1st Bday. Does someone have some kid friendly recipes that I can serve? There will only be about 6 kids ages 1-6yrs.

Adults are having hamburgers and hot dogs cookout in our backyard. I don’t usually spend time around other kids so I’m not too sure of things to serve.
I’m having a very small cake made just for her to destroy  and I’m thinking cupcakes for everyone else as it will be a good portion for the kids and I can have a variety(white, chocolate).

Her theme is Safari/Jungle Animals(Lions, Elephants, Giraffes ect-its her room theme too)

I’m planning to make paperbag puppets of animals from kits- to entertain the kids.
For the gift bags for the kids to take home I want to make small white bags with black stripes(zebra) and brown bags with black spots(leopard)
I’m still trying to come up with some games to play. ???

If you have any other ideas I would appreciate any help. thanks.

Probably for the kids to eat will be a good idea some chicken nuggets, also hot dogs, french fries, cup cakes and pizza, ice cream, they love fruit too.( I know not healthy at all…but they love it…and they go to parties to have fun)
Also another idea will be to have crayons and paper for the kids to color the animals theme.
About games why not…put the tail in the zebra, donkey or any other animal of your theme. Also you can make or buy some animals mask for the kids…I am sure they will love that.
In the cup cakes you can put animal rings also.
For the favors you can put some plastic animals there too.
Also you can read an animal book to the kids.
mmm or you can hide different animals over the place and they can go and look for them just like the hunting eggs.

check this site: www.orientaltrading.com I love this site is so cheap…and they have so much stuff to choose from!!

I hope this hepls.
